Family Fun for Every Budget
Looking to make the most of your Cocoa Beach getaway? Here are some of our favorite ways to pack in the fun without breaking the bank.
Nature Meets Wonder
Start your adventure at the Barrier Island Sanctuary and Education Center—a coastal gem that unlocks natural wonders at no cost. Walk the one-mile trail through sand dunes and mangroves, stop at the overlook to take in the ocean views, and explore the interactive exhibits and aquariums inside the education center. It’s an easy way to experience the beauty and wildlife of Florida’s coastline for free.
Set Sail
Hit the water on a two-hour catamaran cruise with Sail Cocoa Beach. You’ll glide past Cape Canaveral into the open Atlantic, spotting dolphins and seabirds along the way. The crew keeps the ride fun and family-friendly, with snacks and coloring books for little ones. Kids sail free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Catch the Spirit of Cocoa Beach
For a taste of local surf culture, stop by the Florida Surf Museum. You’ll find a collection of rare surfboards, vintage stickers and patches, photos, and music that traces the history of Florida’s wave-riding heritage. Admission is free, but a suggested donation of $2 helps support this community-run museum.
Make a Sweet Stop
Treat your family to rolled ice cream at Frosty-Nauts, a local favorite where dessert is part show, part indulgence. Kids will love watching as the liquid ice cream is poured onto a frozen plate, mixed with toppings, and rolled into colorful waffle cones. Each treat is as fun to make as it is to eat.
Tag Along on a Turtle Walk
Join a Turtle Night Walk at the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge for one of nature’s most moving experiences. Guided by local experts, you might see a loggerhead turtle lay her eggs and return to the ocean under a starry sky. Walks take place in June and July and cost about $20 per person. Reservations are required and tend to fill up quickly—booking ahead is recommended.
End Your Day with a Splash
Head back to Cape Canaveral Beach Resort, where you can float down the lazy river, splash in the pool, or stroll along the beach at sunset. It’s a relaxing, low-cost way to enjoy family time between adventures.
